Last night, Candice Wiggins and other Hollywood starlets attended the 2011 Golden Globe festivities, and we were able to catch up with her and get the entire scoop. While Candice was getting dolled up for the event, we had an EXCLUSIVE interview with the WNBA star. Read below for deets on how she felt preparing for the big night, walking the red carpet, and OF COURSE, her dress!
BGP: So you’re here with your glam squad, getting ready for the Golden Globes. Are you experiencing any pre-event jitters?
CW: Oh my god, yes! I definitely am. This isn’t the same experience as a basketball game, where I know exactly how to perform. I’m a little bit out of my element, so I’m anxious but so, so excited! I love the time that goes into events like these. Anthony Cherry and Artelia do a phenomenal job on my hair and makeup, so they’ve given me that extra boost of confidence that I need. From there, it’s just enjoying the atmosphere.
BGP: The atmosphere is one of the greatest aspects of attending events like these. What do you think will be your favorite moment of the night?
CW: I’m so thrilled about the event tonight. There’s an annual dinner that I’m attending that will focus on the problem of child trafficking within the United States. It is great that it’s bringing awareness to such a heinous crime. So I’m sure that my favorite moment will be having the opportunity to discuss this issue with other people who care about eliminating human trafficking and want to help make a difference. That’s very important to me.
BGP: Well this is a serious issue in the United States, so I hope that the event is a success. Are you excited to meet anyone in particular tonight? Is there anyone special that you want to run into on the red carpet?
CW: Oh yea, for sure. I really want to meet Tara Reid who’s hosting the event and anyone else that happens to be there. The red carpet is always so much fun; there are photographers and people taking interviews. There is so much energy and really nothing else like it!
BGP: So you know we have to ask – where’s the dress?? Can we take a peek!?!?
CW: (Laughs) Yes OF COURSE! I love the dress that I’m wearing. It’s a piece from the 2011 Spring Collection of Romás Designs. It’s a very fresh, hip, off-the-shoulder dress. I love that it’s tan — that color goes really well with my complexion. Linda Rowe Thomas is creator of the line, and she’s an inspiration to me. At a very young age, she was seriously burned in a house fire and it left her physically marred for life, but she didn’t let her injuries hold her back from achieving her dreams. I greatly admire her for that, and I feel so fortunate to be able to wear a dress that was created by such an amazing person!
BGP: Wow she’s really an incredible woman! And the dress is gorgeous. Can we have a glimpse at the jewelry?
CW: The jewelry is to die for. I’m keeping it simple and elegant with earrings and a ring by designer Erica Courtney. They give just the right accents and go perfectly with the dress!
BGP: It seems like you are Golden Globes ready. You look stunning and we can’t wait to see the pictures tomorrow. You will definitely be one of the best dressed of the night. Have fun tonight!
