Last night, the stage at the Roxy Theater in West Hollywood was graced by the presence of some of the sexiest emerging male R&B talent coming up in the industry today. Kicking off the start of the BET Awards Weekend celebrations in Los Angeles, this was the most recent installment of the RnB series hosted by Unrestricted Live, dedicated to providing a platform for the rising stars of rhythm and blues to connect with their fans.
T.A. Thomas, former band member of the group Next Town Down, opened the show in a striking all-white ensemble– his physical presence was as smooth as the vocals he shared with the eager early audience. We were in for a treat, hearing exclusive sneak peeks to music yet to be officially released on his up and coming EP. Rounding out his performance with a cover of Mario’s crowd-favorite classic “Just a Friend 2002” set the stage for a comprehensive display of his vocal range and agility, riffs and runs for days all over the recognizable Biz Markie refrain.
Davion Farris followed up next with a chill set of original music that pulled the growing crowd in closer and held them captive with his honest lyrics. Displaying some moisturized and healthy vocals, Davion Farris belted above the band with confidence and precision singing some of his fan favorites, such as “Tunnel Vision”, off of his most recent album release, Moved. Family was in the audience as well, as Davion’s brother, rapper and songwriter D Smoke, was seen front and center cheering him on throughout the entire set.
And finally, RCA Records recording artist Tone Stith rounded out the night with a set full of his sexiest and most popular single. Backed by dancers and tight choreo, Tone gave the packed house a full show, reminding everyone that his credentials and national tours are the product of his raw and versatile talents. Tone Stith was later joined onstage by surprise guest Maeta for a duet of their collaboration “Something in the Water”, and fans were then treated to a taste of Maeta’s vocals as well, as she performed her hit single “Bitch Don’t Be Mad.” Tone returned to close the night out with more songs from his 2021 album FWM, ending the night on a high by taking his shirt off (very Jodeci style) just in time for his guitar solo, and playing hits such as “Devotion” and “FWM”.
To officially end the festivities for the night, the house wished host and co-producer DJ MoonBaby a happy birthday before departing. Overall, the event was a successful showcase of the rising male stars of R&B, and left fans eager for more music, and definitely more UnRestricted Live.
